Minister

I have the privilege of serving three congregations within the Merseyside District, including Park Lane Chapel, Cairo Street Chapel and Chester Unitarians, each with its own history, character, and faithful community.

Reverend Robert Foreman

My journey into Unitarian ministry has been shaped by a deep love of history, theology, and the stories that form us. I completed my theological training through Durham University in partnership with the Unitarian College, and I continue to be inspired by the long tradition of free Christian thought that has shaped our movement. From early dissenters to modern voices for justice and inclusion, Unitarianism offers a faith both intellectually honest and spiritually generous.

For me, Unitarianism is not about rigid certainty but about faithful exploration. It invites us to ask difficult questions, to honour conscience, and to walk together in compassion. I believe faith is most alive when it is thoughtful, open-hearted, and rooted in community.

The English Unitarian minister James Martineau once wrote that religion is not meant to “peak and pine in solitude,” but to flourish in shared life. That shared life, in worship, conversation, service, and friendship, lies at the heart of my ministry.

My hope as a minister is to nurture communities where people feel safe to reflect deeply, grow spiritually, and discover meaning in ways that are authentic to them. Whether you are full of faith, full of questions, or somewhere in between, you are welcome.

I warmly invite you to join us for worship.

With every blessing,

Rev. Rob
